Medical Ozone Therapy

What Is Medical Ozone Therapy?

First, what is Ozone?

Ozone has three oxygen atoms (O3), where oxygen has two (O2). It is the addition of the third oxygen atom that makes ozone “supercharged” oxygen, and gives it all of its remarkable medical properties.

Ozone therapy is a medical therapy that has been used worldwide for over 50 years with dramatic success and safety. The use of ozone to treat various medical conditions was first developed in Germany in the early 1950′s. Today, Medical Ozone Therapy is common throughout Europe, and its use has gradually been spreading in America over the last 25 years.

Methods Of Application

Intravenous Ozone Therapy, PROLOZONE® Therapy, Intramuscular injections, Subcutaneous injections, Insufflation Therapy (ears, rectal, vaginal, aural, nasal, bladder), Transdermal applications (cupping, bagging, saunas and ozonated oils), and drinking ozonated water.

How It Works

Ozone therapy stimulates the body toward homeostasis by creating a mild, acute oxidative stress and activates the NRF2 pathway (the same pathway activated during exercise and fasting). Among many mechanisms of action, Ozone Therapy is able to increase the body’s natural antioxidant production, enhance oxygen metabolism, and modulate the immune system.

Safety

Ozone therapy has been extensively researched for the last sixty years. Millions of treatments have been performed with a higher safety record than aspirin. While you cannot breathe ozone due to the lack of antioxidant defenses in the lungs, it can be safely administered in many other parts of the body.
